Family Art Lab: Groovy shapes on film

Engaging with animation and film

Drop in and make your drawings move by creating one or two seconds of animation. Artist Katy Dove was inspired by experimental film makers Len Lye and Norman McLaren so in this workshop we’ll have music to get you scratching, drawing and colouring directly onto old 16mm film stock and then see it projected onto a screen.

This is a great way to engage with ‘old’ or formative film technology; we’ll have Victorian zoetropes and 21st Century tablets in action too. Grown-ups wil love this activity too!

The activity will run in timed 15 minute blocks. Suitable from ages 5+. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
