Highlights from Discovery Film Festival 2021

#DicoveryFilmFest

10 November 2021

Discovery Film Festival is all wrapped up for 2021 - we hope you had as much fun as we did!

It was wonderful to be able to welcome schools and families back into our building for screenings, workshops and more, as well as having people join in online via DCA at Home. This year's hybrid festival saw visitors enjoying our shorts and features on the big screen in DCA cinema, pupils joining in from classrooms far and wide, and families watching and making from the comfort of their living rooms.

The festival started on Sat 23 October with our special gala screening of Jackie & Oopjen, which went down a treat! Over the next two weeks, we welcomed school groups from Dundee, Perth and beyond, and also hosted workshops and screenings at the weekends for families to enjoy together. During this time, all of the films were also available to rent online - meaning that even more people could join in on the Discovery fun! The festival finished on Sun 7 November with our closing film The Wolves (Los Lobos).

Here's a look at some highlights from this year's festival:

The festival may be over but you can still access our Teachers' Resources here, and download our Shorts Activity Pack here.

This year, we were thrilled to partner with festival sponsor 4J Studios, the Dundee-based game development studio. Many thanks to 4J Studios for supporting Discovery Film Festival 2021 and helping to make it such a fantastic experience for young audiences from Dundee and beyond.

And a big thank you to everyone who came along or joined in online. Watch out for Discovery family films in DCA cinema throughout the year, and we look forward to seeing you again for Discovery Film Festival 2022!
