Discovery Youth Screen Award 2010

The Discovery Youth Screen Award 2010, Scotland's national award for filmmakers under 18, is now open for entries. We're looking for the best, most imaginative, skillful films made by under 18s from the whole of Scotland. If you are under 18, live in Scotland, and have made a film between August 2009 and September 2010, then it's time to get that DVD ready, fill in the entry form, and send them off to us at DCA. Discovery Family Film Club

Discovery Family Film Club is back after a short summer holiday with films guaranteed to keep children and adults alike amused and entertained throughout August and into September. Buzz and Woody, the ultimate toy box buddies, are back in Toy Story 3 , the most recent film from the legendary Pixar studio. We’ve also got some animated treats from closer to home. The Illusionist was made by animators right here in Dundee , and Jasper: Penguin Explorer is a German-made Arctic romp showing that wherever you are from, friendship can bring out the best in us, and cross all kinds of divides . . . even oceans. Discovery Young Ambassadors

We're looking for five enthusiastic Young Ambassadors to work with us on this year's festival. Love film and think you've got what it takes? You'll work with the Festival Co-ordinator at DCA to decide on workshops, special events, festival design and promotion, and will help host the festival, welcome guests, and introduce films. We will meet approximately one evening a week during July to October and then the Young Ambassadors will take part in running the festival at weekends during16- 31 October 2010 . Events for Teachers at Discovery Film Festival

With free buses, cinema tickets at £3, free teaching packs, plus CPDs and additional activities on offer, Discovery Film Festival is a rich cross-curricular cultural experience. This year's festival offers more for schools than ever and we're keen to work closely with teachers to ensure our resources are useful and the timings are right so that everyone can get the most out of the experience. Highlights this year include Mia and the Migoo (P1-P7), an animated feature film great for Global Citizenship, and book adaptions, The Gruffalo and Varmints (P3-P5).
