Matchmaking filmmakers, youth workers and teachers...
Friday 30th October 4.30-6.30pm. First Light will hold a special event at the Discovery Film Festival to present information about their funding opportunities, and to introduce professional filmmakers to educationalists and community workers who could be potential partners in creating filmmaking projects for young people and applying for First Light funding. Open to: Teachers / Organisations working Young People / Professional Filmmakers / Creative Digital Media Practitioners First Light is the UK's leading initiative enabling young people to realise their potential via creative digital film and media projects. This session at DCA, for filmmakers and for education professionals, will demystify the 3 film project funding schemes in First Light's Young Film Fund and allow you to meet other people who might help you create a film project for young people. Working with young people and film can provide exciting and dynamic hands on opportunities; widen networks of professional contacts; and provide rewarding paid work on projects throughout the UK. The films our young people create cover many topics and genres, and make use of today's accessible digital technologies to tell their stories with them in control.
