First Light will hold a special event at the Discovery Film Festival to present information about their funding opportunities, and to introduce professional filmmakers to educationalists and community workers who could be potential partners in creating filmmaking projects for young people and applying for First Light funding.

First Light is the UK's leading initiative enabling young people to realise their potential via creative digital film and media projects.

This session at DCA, for filmmakers and for education professionals, will demystify the 3 film project funding schemes in First Light's Young Film Fund and allow you to meet other people who might help you create a film project for young people. More about the Young Film Fund here.

Working with young people and film can provide exciting and dynamic hands on opportunities; widen networks of professional contacts; and provide rewarding paid work on projects throughout the UK. Join us at the Discovery Film Festival at DCA, to find out about our grants, to discuss the support available and find partners to work with.
Funded through the UK Film Council, First Light provides funding to enable young people's creativity, giving them a voice and ensuring they are seen and heard. The films our young people create cover many topics and genres, and make use of today's accessible digital technologies to tell their stories with them in control.
